Acute Care

Psychiatric emergency room visits among today’s youth are on the rise, hopelessness is constant, and mental health symptoms are interfering with our youth’s daily functioning and ability to enjoy life. The mental health struggles amongst today’s youth are real and the need for care is significant.

We are committed to tackling this painful reality and providing quality and equitable care to adolescents with our Partial and Intensive Outpatient Programs. These intensive programs were created to support youth experiencing significant mental health distress. We hope to reduce symptom severity and decrease and/or eliminate the need for utilization of higher levels of care including crisis residential and hospitalizations.

So how do we do this?
What is a Partial Hospitalization Program or PHP? Think of PHP as a school day but the focus is on mental health and wellness. We have a highly structured day from 9:00 am- 3:30 pm. The day is full of activities that have been created to teach a variety of skills to manage emotional distress, interpersonal effectiveness, and life stressors. An Intensive Outpatient Program or IOP is very similar, but time spent in the program occurs in the afternoon and for fewer hours than a PHP from 3:30 pm- 6:30 pm.

In each program youth and their loved ones will experience:

A Thorough intake assessment
Youth and caregivers will meet with a board-certified psychiatrist and therapist for a thorough intake assessment to determine youth’s appropriateness for the program, orient youth, and caretakers to the program and to develop individualized treatment goals.

Evidence – Based Treatment Groups
Youth will participate in several groups throughout the day and learn skills to manage their distress and to improve their insight. Groups include but are not limited to DBT, CBT, Narrative, ACT, Process group, and Psychoeducation and Wellness groups.

Family therapy sessions
Family members play an integral role in the youth’s healing. Weekly family therapy sessions will be held to support family members and youth by discussing possible barriers to healing, communication, safety monitoring, implementation of skills in the home, and follow up care plan.

Caregiver support and education groups
Caregivers need a safe space as well. These virtual groups are held to allow caregivers the space to ask questions, learn what their children are learning in the program and for them to express their concerns, fears, frustrations in a safe and nonjudgmental space.

Medication Management
Our psychiatrists take the time to understand the youth’s struggles and provide the necessary education about medication as a possible intervention. Our psychiatrists are patient, understanding, and work collaboratively with youth and their parents.

But our commitment to providing comprehensive care doesn't stop there. We are thrilled to announce that we will be opening a Residential Level of Care to further enhance our support for adolescents in their mental health journey. This new program will provide round-the-clock supervision and support, creating a nurturing and therapeutic environment for youth who may require a higher level of care.

Our Residential Program will build upon the foundation of our existing programs, incorporating evidence-based practices, individualized treatment plans, and a strong emphasis on family involvement. By offering this Residential Level of Care, we aim to provide comprehensive support that fosters lasting healing and growth, reducing the need for crisis residential and hospitalizations even further.

At Wellity Health, we believe in walking hand in hand with our young patients and their families, guiding them towards brighter days and a life of well-being. Together, we will continue to break barriers, destigmatize mental health, and forge a path towards a healthier, happier, and more hopeful future for our youth.

Stay tuned for updates on the launch of our Residential Level of Care. Your child's mental health matters to us, and we are committed to being the beacon of light in their journey of recovery and resilience.
